Jamie Lee Curtis beat me to the punch

No, not about the topless photo in AARP magazine. No one will ever have to worry about that.  The only thing better than saying that I will never appear topless in a magazine photo is saying that no one will ever ask me.  So we’re all safe.

I mean the gray hair thing.  I’m kind of ticked off.  Two weeks ago I had my hair cut.  It had gotten really long and so this gray site I have was well hidden  (I call it a little “site” - makes it seem like a little nuisance rather than damning evidence of my age).  When Barry was finished cutting, the gray was there for all to see.

And I rather liked it.

I was going to write about how much I liked it and then Eileen came home and told me about the AARP feature on Jamie.    Begrudgingly I read the piece.  And of course I liked it very much.  Damn.

What I especially liked about the interview had nothing to do with her gray hair but rather about the wisdom that comes with age.   She was asked if she had any regrets.  She said, ” I’ve been an inconsistent parent at times, and it’s my greatest regret,” she says. “When my daughter was small,  I worked too much.”

And now she applies important criteria to decisions about new projects - Can she get home for dinner? How long will she be away from her kids?

If this is the kind of wisdom that comes with gray hair, then bring it on.
