I was curious. I was actually looking for an image for a post on a different subject. I wanted a huge crowd of gay people to make a point about straight allies. You'll understand when you read the post I write tomorrow. I'll leave you in suspense (albeit a modest amount) until tomorrow on that.
So I googled "gay pride march." I was looking for an image of a gay pride march that gave a sense of the magnitude of the march, the hundreds of thousands who march on 5th Avenue every June (hundreds of thousands is the truth unlike the tens of thousands you will read about on Monday in every NYC paper. Including the papers NOT owned by Rupert Murdoch).
Here's what I found.
Page 1. No crowds. No women. At least none of the biological variety.

Not even our own peeps with our digital cameras.
So here's what I am going to do. I am going to go to the NYC Gay Pride March on Sunday and I am going to take the kind of pictures I want to see of the march. I will post some of them on Monday.

But as much as I hate to say it, I agree with Bill O’Reilly.
The LGBT Civil Rights Movement is serious business. We’re in the fight of our lives. Overtly sexual displays shouldn’t be permitted at parades. Doing so wouldn’t be sex negative, it would be rational and reasonable. Anways, there are plenty of venues catering to the sex business for parade contingents to advertise and show off.
Imagine the Black Civil Rights movement marching with contingents half naked or fully naked using the excuse that they were simply celebrating diverse skin, the beautiful nature of their bodies. Don’t you think that would have been a big distraction from their serious message about justice, fairness and equality?
The LGBT Civil Rights Movement ISN’T about a sexual revolution of free love (maybe it was briefly) or selling more beers at bars or winning the freedom for women to go shirtless; it’s about winning full equality under the law for lgbt people young and old.

One of the issues in the comments seems to be the amount of skin showing during the Parade.
Here in Seattle, Pride shows less skin than the Solstice Parade that takes place the weekend before. THAT parade (considered a family event)is led by naked bicyclists covered in body paint. While they are riding, children are drawing with chalk in the street.
