let’s not tell eileen. or bobbi brown’s husband.
January 15th, 2009
Bobbi Brown and I have a lot in common. We were both ardent supporters of Barack Obama. Bobbi and I both give generously to Emerson College – Bobbi is an alum and our daughter Scout is a current student. We both have three kids. We both live in Montclair, NJ.
There are also key differences. Bobbi, for example, wears makeup. I do not. Perhaps the starkest contrast is that Bobbi sells makeup. Very very successfully. I on the other hand, am a member of a household that buys makeup.. Big difference here. Bobbi makes money for her family and I spend it for my daughters. Also Bobbi is very short and I am just plain short.
The subtlest difference is our address. It is exactly the same except she has the word “Road” in her address and I do not.
In the many years we have been friends and neighbors, this has caused some confusion.
I know, for example, that Bobbi orders take out pretty regularly. Bobbi has fundraisers at her house with some regularity. One time John Edward’s Secret Service folks arrived at our home by accident. That was pretty cool. Truthfully, I like it even better when the liquor store delivers here inadvertently.
But this is a new one.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee has decided that we must be a couple.
Wow. She certainly would be a catch that’s for sure.
But there are a few obstacles to the “Joan and Bobbi Live Happily Ever After” saga. Two come immediately to mind. Steven Plofker (the husband) and Eileen Opatut (the spouse).
I should check the mail today. Maybe the two of them got their invitation today.
