parental guidance at nj.com

Beginning this week, I am now blogging at nj.com. It means I am officially coming out as a resident of New Jersey.

The blog is called Parental Guidance and a handful of NJ parents (I’m the gay one) offer our thoughts about parenting.  The folks there looked far and wide for the very very best NJ mothers they could find.   When Carrie Stettler from the Newark Star Ledger approached me,  she described what she was looking for and why she was anxious to have me  “Well, if Mother Teresa were still alive and if she were a blogger –  you get the idea, Joan.”

Yesterday I wrote about creative ways to make holiday gift giving more meaningful, especially when you have older kids in the family.  It’s one of those ideas that someone might like but I could never get my own kids to do.   Does that make it fiction?
